Come to Quiet. More than you might think

Ever wondered about contemplative prayer? Come to Quiet could be for you.

A small group meets monthly to practise a time of silent prayer. We follow the pattern established by Fr Thomas Keating, who together with some of his Cistercian colleagues formulated Centering Prayer. They were inspired by the anonymous 14th century Christian mystic writing, ‘The Cloud of Unknowing.’

Each session starts with a video teaching on the transformative power of contemplation. After a tea break, we sit in quiet for 20 minutes. Over 10 years of meeting, we have learned from a very wide range of inspiring speakers on spiritual topics.

We meet on the second Tuesday of every month from February to October in the church building at 97 Onewa Road from 7.00 to 9.00 in the evening. There’s no charge and newcomers are very welcome.
