On Thursday 4 May, Rev. Jin Sook Kim was inducted as the Minister to Onewa Christian Community. The service was led by Dr Marie Ropeti-Apisaloma, the Moderator of the Northern Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand. Other Presbytery and congregation members participated. Rev. Martin Fey preached. The church resounded with words of commitment, popular hymns (keyboards and two harps provided the music) and laughter. Naturally, supper and a community time followed.
Symbols of ministry were presented to Rev. Jin Sook. These were a Bible, water to symbolise baptism, bread and wine as symbols of Holy Communion, and a big box of building bricks to mark Jin Sook’s ministry to people of all ages and stages. Rev. Fey acknowledged our former Interim Moderator, Rev. Colin Gordon. A Ministry Settlement Board had helped Onewa Christian Community to call Rev. Jin Sook. The MSB was thanked and stood down.
Thank you to all the visitors who joined us for this happy occasion.
