We celebrated harvest festival through giving

Update 17/03/2022: De Paul House has acknowledged Onewa Christian Community on Facebook:

Shoutout to the Onewa Christian Community for dropping off lots and lots and LOTS of fresh fruit to us on Monday! 🍑🍏🍍🍇Thank you to minister Greg Morgan and Cathy Fraser for organizing such a refreshing and necessary donation! Fresh produce is something we get very rarely, so giving our families the option for a healthy meal or a nutritious snack for their kiddies is just so great! Especially on these hot autumn days. 😋Thank you OCC, our families absolutely loved the treats!

‘Land of abundance, times of need’ was the theme for our urban harvest festival service. We added in the celebration of responsive caring. God is always at work.

People brought fresh produce, preserves, tinned goods and money to donate to our friends at De Paul House for sharing with families they support. De Paul is working alongside about 200 people (132 of them children) in transitional and social housing. Also, De Paul House sent a greeting to our parish which we played during the service.

Further, this was a chance to think about the ‘kai connections’ theme for Neighbours Day Aotearoa this year. Madison O’Dwyer joined us to talk about Neighbours Day and ANCAD’s community resilience work.
